The last line does not close the sense
An ending can open, cut, or put the poem out. Putting it out is what happens when the last line translates the poem into an idea.
The reader has already seen. If the ending tells him what he was supposed to feel, the image becomes a caption. The craft is to cut before that explanation.
Two endings of the same text are written. One that summarizes. Another that leaves the sense working. The criterion is not which one sounds deeper. It is which one does not take the work away from the person reading.
