Poetry with method.

Learn exactly how a poem thinks.

Feel it, comprehend it, fix it.

You do not put into words what you already know you feel. Between the words, you discover what you did not know you were feeling.

More than twenty years. Philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires, with honors. Students who published a book, or won a prize.

Taught at

  • Oxfordshire County Council
  • IF Oxford Science and Ideas Festival

How to begin

Three ways in.

  1. 01

I don't know where to start

15 minutes, free, on Zoom. It is for choosing a workshop.

  2. 02

I want to try one tool

There is a problem in the poem and it is not clear which. A workshop takes one thing. You leave with that tool tried on a text of your own. The time is arranged with you.

  3. 03

    I want to continue

An open poetry group, with no end.

Or ten classes of mentorship, and it closes.

    See how to continue
  • A poem that began at The Poet's Lab is in my book, La balada del cordero.

    Javier Villamonte · individual mentorship

  • Soñar con Agua won first prize, and was published by Ediciones del Dock.

Estela Zanlungo · Fondo Nacional de las Artes Prize, 2014

  • I was able to improve the texts I already had, and to see things in the poem I had not seen.

    Eduardo · individual mentorship

The rest is in About.

Open class

First, to look.

In the forest, with a trunk. What is seen, what is behind it, and what that says about the one who looks.

My voice, generated with AI in English.

01
Tool
One decision you can see, and change, on a poem of your own.
02
Mechanism
One focus, worked until it closes.
03
Community
A place to read, write, and revise. Not a course.
04
Transformation
The text has moved, and you know why.

How to continue

The ten classes, the group, or private.

Group mentorship closes. The poetry group does not. Private is the work, and the person who writes it.

A mechanism

Group mentorship

Ten classes, and it closes. One focus of craft. It is not the poetry group.

  • Ten classes, and it closes on the tenth.
  • Each person brings a text. It is read at the table.
  • Improvisation, composition and revision, on that text.
  • A task between meetings.
Aim
Practice the method with others, inside a length you can see.
Ground
More than a workshop, and before the work alone. Ten classes, one a week. Paid once.

A community

Poetry group

The familiar form. You bring a poem, you hear the others, you write and you revise. It is not the mentorship. It is the workshop, and it does not close.

  • Your poem is read, and so is someone else's.
  • A prompt, and you write in the meeting.
  • The revision happens at the table.
  • No minimum stay.
Aim
A continuous place to write and read, without a program that ends.
Ground
Improvising, composing and revising happen in the same meeting. You do not have to choose only one. Month by month. You can leave when you want.

A transformation

Private mentorship

The most complete work. Your writing, and the person who writes it, week after week. It is not a longer workshop.

A sheet from the work.
  • One live meeting a week, thirty minutes.
  • Improvisation, composition and revision.
  • A clinic of the text: what the poem does, and where.
  • Personal orientation: the text, and the life in which it is written.
Aim
Stay with a body of work and with the person who writes it: improvise, compose, revise, and hold that from one meeting to the next.
Ground
This is the only place where the method and the person are worked together. Self-knowledge, a consciousness that widens, and creativity carried into ordinary life. Month by month. You can leave when you want. The price is talked through on the 15-minute call.
